Juneau Urgent and Family Care provides primary care services to residents of Juneau, Alaska, as well as urgent care for residents and visitors to the area. Our dedicated providers are proud to bring affordable and accessible care to southeast Alaska.
Kelly Griffin, FNP
Kelly Griffin, FNP, knew from the time she was little that she wanted to be a nurse. Her grandmother was a nurse, and Kelly thought the world of her. She looked beautiful in her starched white uniform and cap. She became a certified nursing assistant while in high school as part of a health careers vocational program.
Kelly went to a private college in Texas. The summer before she started her nursing program, she found a position in a local fire department and was able to attend Texas A&M fire training school. Kelly worked with the local fire department while attending nursing school for three years. She learned she has a love for adrenaline. Kelly graduated from Southwestern Adventist University in Texas in 1991 and started her nursing career in Orlando, Florida. Over her career, she worked in Medical Surgical for a year, intensive care for many years, recovery room, and finally settled into the emergency room in 1999. This helped to satisfy her need for excitement.
Kelly is a lifelong learner and went back to college and completed her BSN in 2007 and a dual master's MSN MBA in Healthcare Administration in 2011. She then completed a post-master's degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015. As an FNP, she is experienced in primary care and urgent care.
Kelly has two adult children that she is so proud of. Brandon lives in Florida and is completing his RN program, and Bailey lives in Arizona, working as a certified nursing assistant and raising her beautiful granddaughter Ariyah, who is 4.
Kelly has a great love for nature. Her hobbies include hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, and outdoor photography. On her days off, Kelly will frequently find a trail and go hiking. After work, she might grab a camera and see what she can shoot.
That love of the outdoors and nature is what brought Kelly to Alaska. Growing up, her father was in the forest service. They moved every two years. Kelly lived in many different national forests. She has lived in Oregon, California, Utah, Arizona, Arkansas, Texas, South Carolina, and Florida. Kelly's happy place has always been outdoors.

Wendy Smith, PA-C
Born and raised in Juneau, AK, Wendy Smith, PA-C, is a JHDS and University of Alaska Southeast Alumni. Furthering her education, she completed the Physician Assistant training program at Seton Hill University in 2003, specializing in women's health, geriatric care, and underserved populations. She enjoys providing care to her friends and neighbors, meeting them where they are offering high-quality healthcare advice and guidance.
With almost 20 years of experience in primary care, she is excited about the high pace and variety she is seeing at Juneau Urgent and Family Care.
When she isn't in the clinic, you can find her baking, cooking, canning, or cleaning for her family and animals.
